Periwinkle Place Shops is the perfect place for residents and tourists on Sanibel Island to shop, dine, and play. It has been voted Sanibel’s #1 shopping destination, and it remains one of Lee County’s best attractions. The original Periwinkle Place contained 26 different retailers and shops, including the award-winning Blue Giraffe Restaurant, the original Chico’s, and the luxurious Sanibel Day Spa. The shopping oasis spans an impressive 41,240 square feet, and it feels more like a gorgeous park than a traditional shopping center. Residents and visitors alike were devastated by the damage the shopping center received during the Hurricane.
Businesses Are Back and Better Than Ever
Many businesses that will be reopening with Periwinkle Place have invested in major upgrades to provide an even better experience. For example, Sanibel Day Spa completed a major remodel, including new manicure stations, new floors, and more to provide a relaxing and modern spa experience. According to the Sanibel Day Spa’s Facebook, all of Periwinkle Place will be reopening soon.
Some businesses have not completed all of their renovations yet, but they are still adapting to meet the needs of locals. The Blue Giraffe has a delicious food truck open on their property with outdoor seating, so you can enjoy some of your Sanibel Island favorites while the interior renovations are taking place. The Shady Rooster is also currently closed and planning to reopen in late November of this year, but you can shop online in the meantime. The entire community has continued to adapt in the wake of Hurricane Ian, and all of Periwinkle Place shows our commitment to bouncing back.
