The Latest Sanibel Island Dining News

Now that spring break is in the rearview mirror and summer is rapidly approaching,
many restaurants are reopening throughout the island. What are some of the new
openings and reopenings that Sanibel Island visitors can look forward to?

Bleu Rendezvous

In March, Bleu Rendezvous opened on Sanibel Island. This restaurant was originally
located on Periwinkle Way, but it was destroyed during Hurricane Ian. The same owner
and chef decided to open up a new space just a couple of months ago in a more
intimate environment. Because the bistro has limited seating, making reservations
ahead of time is a great idea.

Island Pizza and Sweet Melissa’s Cafe

Chef Melissa recently competed on the Food Network show Beat Bobby Flay, and she’s
also a James Beard Award nominee! She’s hosting regular pop-ups that feature
delicious dishes from Sweet Melissa’s Café, and you can also enjoy Island Pizza
favorites every day. You can eat in, take out, or get free local delivery. Chef Melissa’s
pop-up is very popular, so be prepared to call ahead on Sweet Melissa’s Café days.

Lazy Flamingo

When many people think about Sanibel Island, they think about the Lazy Flamingo. This
restaurant has been serving up fresh local seafood and other favorites for years, and
they recently opened a food trailer to serve Sanibel residents and guests. The trailer is
located in the parking lot of the closed restaurant and is serving up grouper, wings,
burgers, and other select favorites.

The Magic Bus

The owners of the Mad Hatter and the Island Cow, two Sanibel Island favorites, worked
together to open a new concept known as The Magic Bus. This unique space is a coffee
shop and ice cream shop offering local specialties, candy, sodas, delicious baked
goods, freshly brewed coffee, and 24 flavors of ice cream. The café and shop opened in
late February, and it’s sure to be a hotspot this summer.

Rosalita’s Cantina

Just last month, Rosalita’s Cantina opened on Sanibel Island. This delicious Tex-Mex
restaurant serves up authentic favorites in a fun environment. Whether you’re looking
for tableside guacamole or a hot plate of nachos, there is something for everyone at
Rosalita’s Cantina.
