This beach is located near the city of Sanibel itself, as well as a federal nature preserve. Bring your leashed dog along with you to look for rare nesting birds and sea turtles! Your dog leash must be a maximum of 8 feet in order to protect Sanibel’s shorebirds. Many threatened and endangered nesting birds call this beach home.
Bowman’s Beach
Bowman’s Beach is a beautiful, secluded beach known for its plethora of shells. Bring your four-legged friend along with you for the dog-friendly hiking trails, and for seashell hunting. A leash is required, and there is a parking fee, but for a nature-focused beach day, Bowman’s is a great choice!
Coming Soon: Causeway Islands Park
The Causeway Islands consist of two manmade islands used to support the bridges and roads that connect Sanibel Island to the mainland. The causeway also provides bay and gulf side access. While they are currently closed for maintenance, their reopening is heavily anticipated. These Sanibel beaches are favored among dog owners who want to take their dogs for relaxing walks along the clear, shallow water of the shore. Dogs must be leashed, but parking is free, and there are picnic and open fire areas for cooking out, you can even bring along a kayak for you and your dog to use in these waters!
