All About the Arts | Captiva and Sanibel Island Activities

There are many Captiva and Sanibel Island activities to try, such as collecting shells, visiting the local beach town restaurants and shops, and spending your days in the sun while at Kingfisher Vacations. We suggest planning time to check out the expansive lively art scene during your weekend getaways in Florida. If you're a lover of art or have a knack for curiosity, then keep reading! We'll give you an idea of where to pick up local works of art on your Captiva and Sanibel Island vacations.

Sanibel Art and Frame

Upon entering Sanibel Art and Frame, you'll be given a warm welcome by their friendly staff and notice a variety of diverse artworks on display. Browse over the landscape and nature photography then transition to observing the tropical and coastal works of art. There's everything from contemporary to wildlife pieces, and you'll even find ariel pictures of Captiva and Sanibel Island, Florida.

Watson MacRae Gallery

Every season brings a new display of artwork to Watson MacRae Gallery, so there's always something fresh to see during your Captiva and Sanibel Island vacations. Throughout the winter season, you'll find a new exhibit each month that includes everything from paintings, beautiful ceramics, custom made jewelry, and much more. One of our favorite Sanibel Island activities during the summertime is The Summer Salon exhibit, which is made up of past winter displays.

Hirdie Girdie Gallery

Spending a rainy day at the Hirdie Girdie Gallery will be one of the many fun Sanibel Island activities you can do indoors. The local artists' cooperative features two and three-dimensional artworks, and you'll find everything from impressionistic works of art to abstract pieces. A visit to the local Sanibel Island gallery will leave you feeling inspired on your weekend getaways in Florida!

Tower Gallery

You'll be smiling even as you walk up to the Tower Gallery because the gallery is inside a vibrant turquoise two-story house that was initially built-in 1915. As you're going about your Sanibel Island activities, you'll want to stop into the oldest gallery in Lee County. Enjoy all kinds of mediums on display from watercolor to ceramics, oils, metal, glass, and the list goes on!
