Birding on Sanibel

Sanibel Island is know world wide for it exceptional birding opportunities starting with the JN Ding Darling wildlife preserve, a 5000 acre undistrubed mangrove habitat.

From Roseate Spoonbills, Mangrove Cuckoo’s, Bald Eagles, and an occasional Limpkin sitings Ding Darling is a magnet for birders from around the world.   The best months for birding are from December to April.   Wildlife Drive is a 5 mile drive offering easy access to flats teeming with wading birds, fish and alligators.

Sanibel is also home to the authors Don and Lilian Stokes of the Stokes Field Guides to the Birds of North America.
